Default Sims 1 stuff they should bring back!
While sims 1 is probably mostly forgotten by now, I installed it yesterday along with the few expansions I could still find.

Some great stuff really got lost over time, and its quite a shame.

What stood out for me the most, was all the NPC's on town lots. A violin player at the restaurant, many vendors.. it really helps create atmosphere.
Also have to say that while character creation is limited, the faces do seem to have a lot of character to them. I'd actually love to see them use updated versions of those sims 1 faces as presets for sims4. (presets in sims3 where downright ugly.)

It also seems theres more focus on careers. Probably because theres not too much else to do, but it really stands out. Silly friend requirements drag it down of course, but I do love how much work they did put into the careers with all the carpools and uniforms.

No rabbit hole.
I love reality in Sims 1.
When you go to restaurant.
- Order food
- Wait
- Chef open refrigerator , prepare food , cook in oven
- Busboy serve food
- Eat
- Busboy clean table

Not just enter rabbit hole then mood go up and come out.

It focused more on the experience yes, it didnt just made your sim enter a place and walk out with a moodlet.

Moodlets are one of the worst things added to the series anyways. I gues there are some good uses for it, but mostly its just used as an excuse to leave out content.

i don't think they are a waste. And not most of them leave content out.. like brushing their teeth nd get the fresh moodlet. If it wasn't for that i wouldn't do it.. just because i don't get anything in exchange. I'm not into RH but either taking off the moodlets I prefer them more than the "fine, bored.. bla" label near the sim thumbnail. In my experience, moodlets make me do more stuff... like go to the spa and know that my sim is going to be in happy mood for x amount of days.

I'd much rather see my sim visiting that spa and socialise with other sims. Watch them getting a massage, take a sauna and hop in a hot tub.
Instead of a moodlet I'd rather see a boost in lifetime happiness points.

My sims never go to the spa unless one has the wish to go there.

Oh, I so miss the spa from Sims 1. Mud bath, spa steamers, massage tables (with actual masseuses)... *sigh*

I don't remember if this was in TS1 PC, but in the console version there was a machine that had different incenses in it, and if I remember correctly each scent would raise a motive or a couple of motives. It was a nice thing to help them raise skills without having some motives (namely fun) decrease too fast. I know there's incenses in WA, but it's not exactly the same, plus I hate having to go on vacations for them. That machine was available from the catalogue and you just paid extra for each time you used an incense.

The bear rug. In the sims' busting out they could whoohoo in it, but the make out from the PC version was also nice. Various objects from each EP, like the entirety of the downtown from Hot Date (ex: the candy stands), the fact that you had to actually buy treats and seeds in the pets ep, pretty much all the objects from vacations that never came back, the baking stove from Makin' Magic, etc.

And the whistling. I miss the catchy tune so much. Actually, I wish there was a port of TS1 for tablets. That was offline. I'm sure most of tablets could handle it, and it's something I could see myself playing on the bus. Or just a port of it somewhere.

I'd rather the sims show that they are in a happy mood through their behaviour rather than moodlets. They could whistle a happy tune once in a while, or dance around the kitchen while cooking. I guess it's OK to know that certain interactions will affect your sims in a certain way, and the modlets are a way to see that but, by themselves, they seem too much like a bunch of numbers in an equation.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing the Tragic Clown make a comeback. The proper Tragic Clown that emerged from his painting, coughed and wheezed everywhere, made every sim nearby depressed and looked vaguely like Pennywise, I mean, not the half-arsed version included as an easter egg in TS3. TS4 would be the perfect game for him anyway. With all the focus on "emotions" this time around, why not include the threat of a NPC wholly dedicated to making everyone around him as miserable as humanly possible?

(Only if you buy the Tragic Clown painting, though. Just so those that don't want the Tragic Clown at all can avoid him if they wish)

well, i'm not saying i want one or the other. I think that taking them off would be a sad thing for me, because i use it and see them all the time. The thing is that if they are not there and my sim is super sad or super mad, i don't even know why. You can be sad for your pet dying and happy for getting engaged, all in the same day.. so how would that react in the sim's face?

Also when they eat at the restaurant there was table interactions. I want table interactions back, dammit!

Crank phone calls, whistling while they washed the dishes, and the humor (best in the series).

This is so true. Sims 2 began strong but misplaced its funny bone about halfway through. Sims 3...well, let's just say if that game was a sim, it would have the 'No sense of humor trait.' The text is so dull, dull, dull, and nothing the sims themselves do makes me LOL and fall in love with them the way their predecessors did.

I would love to see a return of some of the things people have already mentioned, like the cake dancer, and the spa - oh my gosh! I forgot about the spa - and for some reason I really miss the party crasher and the monster from the chemistry set, but the one thing I have always always always wanted back is a Servo that is just an object, nothing more. I don't want to have to freaking take care of its needs, I just want it to clean the house and then go back into its box when I turn it OFF. I have no idea if the Sims3 Servo/robots/whatever behave this way (doubt it), but I never liked the Sims2 version because of this. Or give me the option to turn it into a live sim, sort of like how the Imaginary Friend works.

Damn. Now I have this crazy desire to install and play Sims 1...

true! why did i ever imagined that bots from ITF would be like that? Also, there's Bonehilda (the bone maid (?) ) tha comes with supernatural i think.. but i've never used her... it creeps me out.

Me too. But I don't see myself playing it for long like I played TS2, which is why I wish they would re-release a portable version of it with all EPs. Tablets, phones, PSPVita, whatever, I just think it would be really enjoyable to play it during lunch hour. Try to get a Sim to top a career, which was super hard in TS1, and other goals over the course of months. Too bad EA seems to want to pretend that the previous Sims games don't exist, as seen by their treatment of TS2. A shame, if they pulled their heads out of their asses they could make easy money by just re-releasing an old game, like many companies are doing now. Even with no updates I could see it doing well. Better than Sims social at least.

But back to the topic at hand, when/if they release a magic EP for the sims 4, I'd like the magic system to be more like makin' magic. Make it difficult to find ingredients for charm and potions, have consequences if the spells go wrong besides a mood decay, have penalties if other non magic sims see you performing magic, add a whole new subworld with just magic/supernatural as its theme, complete with a different currency. Add other life states as equally awesome, and now that would be an awesome supernatural EP. That you can completely ignore by just shoving all the magic sims into the subhood, if you wanted to. Making them blend in with normal sims would be challenging, which is awesome because the game needs more challenge a la Sims 1.

Edit: Apparently you can emulate on android already. Unfortunately, my current tablet doesn't meet the specs for it.

Definitely the random phone calls, and the sims just humming and singing as they were walking or doing an action.

I agree with the cake dancer and the bear rug. I also think they should bring back woohoo reactions. I liked seeing my sims react to their significant other's woohoo by cheering, crying, or booing. Another thing that they should bring back is children singing to their baby siblings. I thought that was so precious. Child sims in Sims 2 can't do anything with baby/newborn sims (not sure about sims 3), singing to them is a nice touch.

That's the trouble with reminiscing about it. I've had the urge to reinstall several times when reading the TS1 board. And I was one of those who stopped playing as soon as TS2 was released.

Also: TS1 style magic would be nice (duels!!).

They could include everything!
No... seriously. They could at least bring the food thingies back. You could buy pastries, ice cream... etc. Sushi bars were awesome!
They definitely should make an expansion like Superstar again. Showtime looks boring to me and Late Night celebrities were crappy in terms of gameplay.
Also, proper magic! I've never fussled with that in The Sims 1... only did a few spells and whatever... and I've never tried out magic in AL but it seems it isn't nearly as... "complete" as magic in Makin' Magic... so yeah...
It would also be really good for them to bring back the Vacation experience from the first game. Igloos, snowboarding, stuff like that.
Well, I think you can go snowboarding in TS3... uhm...
The forest part of Vacation Island was also really awesome!
Downtown and Old Town were fun.
I love shopping for groceries in Old Town... you know. The vegetables. That is one of my favourite things in TS3 too.
The pets were so good, and way less boring than the ones in TS2... contests are really cool... they have that in Pet Stories but not the normal game

EDIT: Seems like igloos make a comeback in TS3: Seasons... too bad I can't get the EP...
