Got this a PM from “TheNumbersWoman” asking me for “names of experienced object creators from MTS” to invite to their closed alpha testing -- I removed the actual PM for now, not upon *their* request, but upon somebody else’s request who thought it was, just in general, not OK to publish PMs without prior permission. Which is true.

It would be helpful, to avoid speculation and stuff, if TheNumbersWoman could give permission to re-post it.

Anyway, my reply:

No thanks. I am absolutely opposed to your policy of proprietary software, in the context of a commercialised site on top of that, and I will in no way support it.

Come back when you published the source.

Just fyi.

Just in case they read this: you're of course welcome to post here in the Tools forum, in public, and invite people for testing, post updates, ask for bug reports, whatever. Just like everybody else. But soliciting support for that kind of behind-the-scenes shit? Not going to happen.

Follow-up conversation:

[ Another PM about how they are “really really not trying to hog it from the public, but just don’t want their software “in the wrong creators hands” since it “could cause issues” (actual quote removed, reason see above) ]

If you want to talk about your project, please do it in public. You know where our tools forum is? You'd have my full support should anyone try to harrass you or anything -- I am very opposed to *all* flavours of that "competition" stuff going on, regardless from what side.

People are old enough to deal with bugs, IMO -- can witness that every day in those threads that are public. There are no "wrong creators" .. what kind of concept is that?

Be aware I am publishing your PMs, too. So if you don't want that .. don't PM me. =)

Regards, pbox

Pre-emptive note, in case they do post here -- please do us all a favor and *behave yourselves* (everyone). No flaming, harrassing, poking, personal accusations or anything like that. This forum is for communication and civilised exchange of information.

(Discussing general topics like freedom of information, open vs closed source, commercial sites etc pp should probably also be kept separate from actual technical threads (like bug reporting and the like), just for sake of manageability.)

I am really sorry this was taken out of context or the spirit in which it was intended. Had I known a privately conveyed message would have been published I would certainly have polished this up a bit. Since I am unfamiliar with object creators on MTS I thought to contact an admin to help out in trying to get more objects out. Whether here or TSR doesn't matter. We wanted experienced object creators only because WS is not at a stage that inexperienced creators may not break games with it.
I honestly contacted MTS to get object creators who wished to alpha test.We are not trying to "hog" WS we are trying to get it to a point of public release. As for the wiki, the programmer is very busy in the creation stage of WS and some things have not been figured out. He is planning on posting findings in the wiki as soon as there is more things pertinent and permanent figured out with WS.
I do not get "sides" as to me we are all creators in the same community no matter where the tools come from. I have used SimPE, Sims3PE, and fiddled with Sims4PE in creation along with WS. The offer stands, anyone who is an experienced object creator who wishes to be involved can contact me on TSR PM or MTS PM, although MTS I may be slower to answer.

I will be posting in the tools forum.

Just adding the direct link to the alpha testing thread: http://www.modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=538827

Makes a lot more sense this way, I would think, so thanks for posting on your own behalf -- now you can decide for yourself who the “right creators” are in your eyes.

E: do you want that thread open for posting or shall I close it for you? (in the latter case, a pointer to some place where people can post bug reports, questions etc would be a good idea, otherwise you will likely end up with more threads)

open would be fine. and this wasn't about the "right" creators only the experienced ones.

tbh I don't see why you're looking for "right creators" as anyone can be a right creator. Maybe you should be specific in what you're looking for because you seem to have meshes working so you don't seem to need anyone with new meshes testing the tool so that sounds like a load of BS (IMO).

Are you looking to have people add new slots to items? add slots to items without slots before?
Are you looking for people experienced with Object Geostates?
Are you looking for people experienced in modifying lights and light sources?

Those would be valid needs, because those are highly experimental, but needing new meshes when you already have a group of artists making meshes.

Experienced Creators. Take a look around, there are a large number here.

I'm going to lock this thread. Any "experienced" creators can make contact about getting into the testing as linked above. Mind your manners when doing so.

/me goes to cry in the corner since she is obviously not an "experienced" creator.
