Default Need Feedback/Help On New Neighborhood
Hey everyone,
I've recently started work on a new neighborhood, LaFrange Marsh, it's meant to be a new neighborhood taking influence primarily from New Orleans/Louisiana and Florida. I'm almost finished I believe, but I recently hit a snag. I'm looking to create custom, or at least different, townies in lieu of the typical Pleasantview ones. My intention when creating this neighborhood was to create a sort of test neighborhood or 'pre-neighborhood' before I moved onto the finished product, my plan was to create the families and their houses and then move them into the Lots & Houses bin so that I could move them to the final neighborhood, so I didn't bother getting rid of the Pleasantview townies while I worked on the staging neighborhood. However I was recently told that moving families from one neighborhood to the next by these means would corrupt the new neighborhood. It's not the biggest deal if I have to re-create the families, but I just wanted to make sure that I could at least move the houses to the lots and houses bin and move them to the new neighborhood with no issue. In addition to this, I was hopeful that somebody might be able to help me figure out how I can create new townies for LaFrange Marsh.
Any feedback or recommendations are welcome as well!

When making a new neighborhood for upload, it pays to plan. The standard tutorial is by the late great Mootilda, here:

Katatty has also done a more recent one, allowing for the possibility that the creator is using the Ultimate Collection and also discussing creative issues, on her tumblr:

If you scan the notes to each post you'll also be able to read my own comments on what katatty says. We are substantially in agreement, but there's nine and sixty ways of inventing tribal lays and it's a nice juicy topic.

Creating new townies is easy. Once you have your empty environment (as explained in the tutorials), create your townies in CAS, move them onto a lot, and then use your preferred tool to change them into townies. I believe some people like to use SimBlender for this, or the Sim Manipulator. I like using the teleporter cat, myself. You click on it and select the "Make Me..." option.

Moving unoccupied (including no graves or urns) lots to the lot bin isn't a problem. In fact it's a good idea to put all the lots you build for a town into the lot bin so you have easy back ups in case something goes wrong and you have to rebuild from the ground up. If I have a lot I want to playtest before I put the characters into a hood I routinely do so in a different hood.

One thing that strikes me, looking at your hood terrain, is that you're doing a Southern island with no beach lots. I don't think you'll get the Florida atmosphere without beaches, and if it's more New Orleans based I'd expect you'd still want a wharf area. Think about it.

Ugly is in the heart of the beholder.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I was looking to change up the terrain a bit, I did have a few beach lots but they're already in the houses and lots bin. I should definitely create more though.
